COCA-COLA IN INDONESIA
Coca-Cola was first
introduced in Indonesia in 1962 and produced locally since 1932. Having had
ceased operations in 1942, Coca-Cola began to be produced again by Indonesia
Bottler Limited (IBL), a national company established by TH Ticoalu, Tatang
Nana, and Harry Handoyo. The plant produced 1,000-1,500 cases of Coca-Cola
every day, and employs 25 people aided by 3-7 trucks for distribution.
Since the 1960s, a variety of products of The
Coca-Cola Company has introduced to the Indonesian market. And in 2000, 10
bottling operations consolidated under Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia.

AMATIL INDONESIA

Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia (CCAI) is a manufacturer
and distributor of non-alcoholic beverages the leading ready to drink which has
been operating in Indonesia since 1992. CCAI manufactures and distributes
products under license of The Coca-Cola Company.
The head office of Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) is located in Sydney, Australia,
and has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. CCAI's parent
company, is one of 20 companies featured in Australia.
CCA is one of the largest bottlers of non-alcoholic
beverages ready to drink in the Asia-Pacific region and one of the Coca-Cola
bottling company in the world.CCA is currently operating in six countries,
namely Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa.
CCA in Indonesia employs more than 12,000 workers. A
large number of external parties such as customers, suppliers, and service
providers also derive revenue from business with CCAI.
Currently CCAI has 8 factories in Indonesia, namely
Cibitung, Cikedokan, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Bali, Medan, and Lampung and
operates with more than 200 sales and distribution centers throughout
Indonesia.
DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
Most of the products
Coca-Cola Bottling is distributed through more than 120 sales centers spread
throughout Indonesia. The products were transported to the centers of these
sales by large-sized truck fleet and then distributed to retail merchants by
smaller distribution vehicles. If truck sales of Coca-Cola Bottling placed in a
row, it will be along approximately 17 km. This makes the Coca-Cola bottling
company as one of the largest distribution company in Indonesia.
It is
estimated that more than 80% products of Coca-Cola Bottling sold through
retailers and wholesalers which 90% are included in the category of small
business entrepreneurs, and they employ less than five employees with annual
sales turnover of less than Rp. 1 billion.
